Remember: In the case where you need to manually add a device into ABM you can use Apple Configurator. It is easiest to use the MacOS version of Apple Configurator when adding Apple TVs into ABM and the MDM server. When manually adding a mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone, it is much easier to use the iOS version of Apple Configurator.to add a device into ABM manually.

There are 2 parts to setting up Apple Configurator:

1. Adding an organization in Apple Configurator.

2. Adding a Server in Apple Configurator.

Below are the instructions on how to set up Apple Configurator on MacOS for Mckenney’s IT usage:

1. Adding an Organization in Apple Configurator:

1.  Access the App Store on your PC and install Apple Configurator.

2. Next, open Apple Configurator and click “Apple Configurator” in the upper left corner of the screen next to the Apple logo. (Red box shown below)

3. Open “Settings”.

4. Click “Organizations” and then the “+” to add a Mckenney’s as the Organization. Please note that these are the instructions for the Atlanta office. The Charlotte office will have a different identifier which you will see in future configuration steps.

5. Click “Next”.

6. Make sure that you have an Apple Business Manager account. On this step you will be prompted to sign into your ABM account.

7. After signing into ABM click “Choose an existing supervision identity” and then click “Next”.

8. Click “Choose…”. At this step you are selecting a supervising identity which in our case is our MDM. Addigy MDM identity should automatically appear because it is already connected as an MDM server in Apple Business Manager. Select “AddigyMDM Identity” and then click “Choose”.

9. Click “Done” after confirming the Addigy MDM Identity Certificate. Note the certificate expiration date is February 6, 2025. I usually create a Teams calendar reminder to renew the certificate.

10. Confirm that Mckenney’s was added as an organization in Apple Configurator.

2. Adding a Server in Apple Configurator:

11.  Follow steps 2 & 3 under “Adding an Organization to Apple Configurator” if the application gets closed. If not you should still see the following screen:

12. Select “Servers” and then select the “+” button. At this step, we will be Defining an MDM server. Click “Next”.

13.  Next, we will enter “Addigy” as the “Name” when defining the MDM Server.

14. As the “Host name or URL” you will need to remove the host name or URL that is already defaulted and then insert the following URL: “https://mdm-prod.addigy.com/mdm/enroll/7fc55344-6ee4-4f6b-b7ab-e0e3d0091a73/13c27fee-73cf-4d7d-af88-c0ea1ff2faad/“.

15. Click “Next” and then confirm that Addigy was successfully added as an MDM server. Click “Edit”.

16. Confirm that the following SSL Trust certificates are also showing, then click “Save”.
